The International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) requires shippers to be responsible for verifying packed containers' gross mass prior to stowage aboard their vessel.
VGM is the total gross mass of a packed container. It comprises of the cargo weight, weight of packaging materials used and container tare weight.
Shippers can submit their eVGM information via XML to ocean carriers promptly to comply with any new requirements. CALISTA can support eVGM submissions to multiple carriers.
